Second SummerA Poem by Sarawartime storySecond summer come, Give an excuse for play. Just one more day While the weather still stays warm. Second summer come, Wash over our toes Like the cold water flows In streams that still believe in winter. Second summer come, Remind us of the days We lingered in the shade And waited for surrender. Second summer come, Disturb the peaceful war That clamors at our door While we’re still trapped in winter.
