Poison Kiss

Poison Kiss

A Story by Sara

writing prompt: "prophecy"

The woman rubbed her daughter’s belly. “Grandma will be very proud of you, little dear.”

A kick against her hand is the only sign of a reaction.

“You are Grandma’s beauty queen. Someday you will have everything.”

A simple prophecy made out of love. Who would have known what harm it could do?

“My beautiful girl with the long, long hair and the blue, blue eyes and those hands! Your hands are made to be the creators of so many wonderful things. Grandma’s beautiful thing.”

Slowly the woman’s belly grows, so slowly that you can’t hear or see it grow.

Come back the next day, though, and you’ll notice a difference.

Grandma comes to rub her belly.

“You are Grandma’s angel, dear. You will have the best in all of us. In each of us.

Don’t doubt it for a second, this is Grandma’s prophecy.”

Ten years later she is a beauty queen with long, long hair and blue, blue eyes. She has hands that could create anything, imagine, anything you could wish for.

Grandma’s curse was to wish for this. Just a kiss, a poison kiss.

The beauty queen cursed the gift she bore.

The anything became…death! And more!

She could create with her long, long hair

Those blue, blue eyes

Anything.  But what she chose was a noose for those who went against her wishes.

And a poison kiss for Grandma dear

Who cursed her with her beauty.
