Ode To a Broken Heart

Ode To a Broken Heart

A Poem by SaraHelena

For a moment there I thought I knew you.

For a moment there I saw the starlight in your eyes.

Thought I could tell you,

How I had been hurt, and about all the lies.

How could I have been so blind and such a fool,

To think of putting all my love and trust in you-

Your all the same...

Gave it everything I had, thought I could change,

But who a person is, is not spelt in their name.

Thought I was wise, thought I was strong, thought I could fight the world alone,

Though I was hurt and I was blind and though this world was so unkind.

Put up my fight and turned out the looser,

And now I'm sure I will never love again,

For who a person is, is not spelled in their name.

Then I met you walking through this world alone,

And I felt your heart was also turned to stone,

Thought you were sweet, thought you were kind,

Thought I could break into your life,

Though you were cold inside, as cold as ice.

I tried and did the best I could, thought you should know,

Thought if I showed you my love, your love would grow.

Instead you turned away from me, pushed me against the blade.

Tore my heard to shreds, I felt the pain.

Now I feel sure that I will never love again...

Now I feel sure that I will never love again.

This one's got some spelling issues, but overall it's a fantastic poem. It has a lot of feeling behind the words, and I like how you tie up the end with a repeated line. ...
