Trenches

Trenches

A Poem by Sara
"

A poem about life in the trenches of World War I

"

A dark grave in disguise

we built, of modest size

we dug our hole of loss

like Jesus bore his cross.

I lay there, felt the earth

experiencing the birth

of my new trench-home.

I really like this piece because it is simple yet it gets the message across. That war was very sad, with men fighting and dying only to accomplish capturing a few feet a year. Well done and nicely penned!
