Mystery City

Mystery City

A Poem by Lyndy
"

A group of mysterious superstars parading in a city at midnight

"

Under the moonlit sky

A man trudged his way painfully and slowly

His back is hunched almost I fear

And he crawls when anyone gets near

His silhouette seen by those awake

At this time of night others will say

Soon a beautiful lady in red

Her pale skin adorns her beauty

her nightgown flowing on the ground

But she barely touches land

She only goes to darken streets

To join the feasts or sometimes spend

A solitude alone at the city's end

The girl in white is only but a child

She roams the street nearly every night

The city lights flicker by her touch

Her entire being can make your adrenaline rush

They say those who meet her

Came running back to testify

About the girl

Who floats lightly like a fly

The jumping soldier is a myth

They say he's human but only a bit

He roams the street outside your door

And greets a Hello

If only you know

He waits outside your house

Or dances on the street

At the rhythm of your heartbeat

The Mysterious City has its scenes

Of magic and mystery nobody knows

Only the hooded appears right behind you

And the shadows in front of you

With the jingling of bells beside you

To your left you hear pattering of feet

To your right there's nothing but the street

In what you believe in this city

Is what you will see in dreams

So nighty night town folks

Have a pleasant sleep

For those at peace

Will fail to notice

The happenings of the mysterious city

Only those who worry

As they can carry

The whole mystery of the midnight city

Will know the meaning of the beings

That linger freely

Among us during midnight

Many a spirit, both mythical or magical travel through corridors around us each and every darkened night. Possibly souls attempting to stay instead of going to a beyond; possibly there is still a purpose for these wayward spirits. Maybe can been seen by some but not by all, perhaps? The poem made me feel anxious to read a following line then to the next line and the next...and I sense and see painted pictures of fantasy walking amidst reality or maybe it's the other way around, depending on one's perspective.
Very nicely done, Lyndy...BRAVO!
