Springtime Rivals

Springtime Rivals

A Poem by Sara
"

the birds and the bees...

"
Springtime Rivals

by the starflower
a hummingbird
hovers in humorless iridescence
sucking the sweet nectar
with mathematical precision
infinity caught in its wings
feathers like fish scales
a fortissimo of color

caught in the crossbreeze
the bumblebee tumbles by
with an angry buzz
a jealous blunderbuss
trapped in an over-heated body
it knows
yellow and black don't go together
the horizontal stripes make it look fat

Hi! I'm just a simple college student from Texas who enjoys storytelling in all its forms. I'm quite shy, so I find writing much easier than talking since I don't have to put up with my usual stutteri.. more..
