Different Shades Of Purple

Different Shades Of Purple

A Poem by Sunflower/Sara Kendrick
"

Several different forms of poetry in work..Written for competition..

Far away at the break of day, the Peacock spreads his beautiful feathers.

While the Purple House Finch

Feeds its young from my feeder

To him life is a cinch

Until the cat comes as a reader

Of those birds, which he is a seeker

The Mocking Bird sings

Because hidden with nest_eggs

Escapes fast cat's swings

For nest rest in rose trellis

Clever this fellow and mean

Purple Barn Swallow rises high

Above this stress greater than the rest

Lovely, colourful avian imagery; capturing within it a kind of natural chain of existence and status, like a small cross-section of 'the survival of the fittest.' The untouchable Peacock seems to harbour the images presented. But it is an appreciation of the beauty of such sights which drives this poem. And the colour purple seems to be an inspiration.

Nature in purple hues. I like the descriptive imagery and delivery. Lovely poem to read.

Wonderful and delightful scenes of different purple birds. I really like this, it has a warm late spring feel to it as well.

I love barn swallows. I love this poem, seeing the cat wanting all the birds, just like cats always do. If there is a bird feeder around, they are there!
