Companionship

Companionship

A Poem by Sunflower/Sara Kendrick
"

Blank verse

"

I had forgotten how crickets must sound

As on porch I had come at night to think

Wanting totally to find self alone

Alone desiring to walk woody road

Needing true companion with me to walk

Somehow now I hear call of Whip-Poor-Will

As through this very long dark night I pass

Could in life there be a much better way

To walk with companionship of another

These quiet moments are when we reflect the most about how we wish our lives to be. Its these moments too when the longing for companionship can be the most painful, I think.

To me this has a strong sense of loneliness, the strong need to feel connected to someone else, the darkness and nature enhance that alone feeling. This is beautiful yet painful as well.

There is the sweetest longing here... in the soft sound of night, wishing for another to fill the moments.. It is a most beautiful thing to have someone to share life with.

In the quiet and still of night we find what we're searching for and here in this brief, lovely poem, you have - very calm, very gentle .. Your muse was generous!
