Down Where The Jasmine Grows

Down Where The Jasmine Grows

Down where the Jasmine grows wild

Gracing the woods with its yellow light

And Wisteria turned loose romps through the trees

Climbing higher cascading scent on midnight breeze

Night is dark for waning moon is covered in mist

As crickets' symphony orchestra entertains night owls

A thousand plants pollinate the cool night air

All is peace and harmony here

Whitie slumbars in his bed

With dreams of dinosaur's bones

Running through his head

Will this night be his last?

Or will the radiation come

And kill all that can't last?

Will it be payback for unleashing the "beast"

Some sixty odd years ago so we wouldn't go down in defeat

Wow, you brought me to a wild garden and I was ready to find peace, and then you brought the destruction...civilization is killing the planet, taking away our health, destroying natura...excellent poem!

Your poem swings from gentle, beautiful plants and colours to the dark dread of war and its accompanying evils- it's such a contrast that it made me gasp. The words really do make me think ..

Maybe your meter's a little erratic but even so your words are memorable and moving. (You)

Very vivid in its beauty and harsh in its question. Is this a situation of what goes around comes around? I hope not. Enough bombs and destruction but sadly it never seems to stop. Leaders of Countries always come up with more reasons to play very real war games. Nicely done.

This starts out lovely and takes a very stark turn. Your questions at the end do get a person thinking.
