Golden Rod SunriseA Poem by Sunflower/Sara KendrickFree VerseThe artist used the Golden Rods As a paintbrush Swept across the sky Painted yellow sunshine Bright against the natural eye
Then the artist used Cornflowers Filled in all the empty space This gracious sky he decorated On this my fall day
But much earlier this morn The poor country bride Swept across the dale Right before my eyes Dressed in her gray muslin gown
Adorned in her bridal veil Dragging her gray shawl Against the red clay ground Running up the hill On across the swift running creek
Her sad laughter very shrill As she danced and skipped To the most unusual music beat
She had married the artist Who painted all the gray away Even the gray fog of the morning With the Golden Rods today © 2010 Sunflower/Sara Kendrick |
