Grandma's Tall Tale

Grandma's Tall Tale

A Poem by Sunflower/Sara Kendrick
"

Rhyme for contest

"

Listen my children

And you shall hear

Of a midnight ride

By our granny dear

All in a hurry

She grabs a shovel

 Rocky ready to travel

On Mule did scurry

Those two go for ride

On Mule down the lane

Around the deep bend

Continue down drive

When they swiftly arrive

Rocky jumps to occasion

Starts to dig on road side

One rat, two rats, look at that

Rats he did catch

Cats look at that stack

Snakes all get back

Rocky killed all the rats alive

Going back up the drive

Granny by his side

Rocky did drive the Mule

He was Granny's guide

Now the work is done

He's glad to get home

He falls exhausted in a pile

as always i love the way your rhymes are so classically inspired. cute little story in a staccato structure that does make it indeed seem like a tale retold from long ago.
