A New Day Of Praise

A New Day Of Praise

A Poem by Sunflower/Sara Kendrick
"

After reading Edna St. Vincent Millay...I was inspired to write this one..

"

The child set the wood against her raised chin

High up, to place the very last big piece

No less assured of her father's great praise

Than at anytime had ever she been

Wanting to fulfill his expectations

Of a child who was very brave and strong

But could not draw the water from deep well

For the rope was much to long...well deep

My father loved me so so much he did

He always came to my aide..ease my load

As I drew that heavy water, each turn

Would get much harder__just in nick of time

There he would step by my side__reach for rope

Ease the strain, ease my load__my father_(my) guide

As the red sun rises, the birds chirp__thank you Father for this day

This was written after reading Edna St. Vincent Millay...I had a memory of childhood...Then I interspersed my feelings of my heavenly Father in there...

I wear a Miraculous Medal around my neck (even though I'm not Roman Catholic) because I lost my mother at 14 and so the Blessed Mother is my mother too. I think it's appropriate and exalting to see echoes between our earthly parents and our heavenly ones. This is very resonant with "my yoke is heavy, but my burden is light." I like the memory and how you've intertwined it here into a larger theme.
