Broken Rutter

Broken Rutter

A Poem by Sunflower/Sara Kendrick
"

Free verse

"

"Two ships that pass in the night"

In a thick fog with fog horns

Blaring, broken rutters_tense

Situation like marriage

Marriage where partners lack love

"Two ships that pass in the night"

Afraid to touch each other

Just touch in negative ways

"Strangers in the night stealing__

Glances" afraid to hold love

Glances that sometimes hate_kill

Needs mending so love can heal

Why do couples so this to (each other)

For so so many years

"Two ships that pass in the night"

Blairing, broken-rutters__tense

Marriage gone bad - girl, this is so true. And I love the tone and tune in the background of the poem. I have to agree with Justrose - interesting interplay.

I like how you've combined the songs, which seem like they're playing underneath your poem, into a theme that is one of emptiness and confusion. The ships give a sort of smooth movement to what is a quite jagged set of circumstances. Interesting interplay.
