Pink Roses 'Pon The Gown

Pink Roses 'Pon The Gown

A Poem by Sunflower/Sara Kendrick
"

Sonnet

"

French rose accented by carnation pink

'Pon black flannel nightgown_ well-worn, faded

An old gown once deep black as darkest ink

Now washed to a softness by life not jaded

Pinky fingers curved by arthritic joints

Hair white with age like a shining halo

Gown of pink roses washed dull by innocents

Wishes come true when wished 'pon distant rainbow

If only can never change the past's wrongs

Nor darken the faded black nightgown

Nor restore dark blonde where it belongs

If only can fuel esteem's beat down

Life issues some hard blowns upon mankind

To do better all of the way be resigned

There is a hint of sadness in this poem I think. As if the colors have faded from the once harbored dreams and petal frail and weak cling on with all the strength they can muster. I am probably wrong but I am not wrong when I say this is beautiful. So very nice my friend. Loved it.

I like the respect in this poem. You have the British politeness honed 'Pon the poem. ;)
Nice touch there.
The last line really strikes me as truth, "all of the way be resigned". We need to live our lives "all the way". Today, society seems to encourage half measures of everything.
Very lovely write Sara.

To do, To Do, and raise a hand, raise beside you a fellow fallen, Oh to , and too, together a gown, the veil stained from time, Still on your dresser a picture of time alive in the frame.
