Gilded Butterflies

Gilded Butterflies

A Poem by Sar Jayne

Deluge of rain

Sparked a fire in my soul

Burned up the regrets I had

And all that is left is old

Old memories so nice to see you

Old songs that I always used to sing to

Young boy and girl hold hands and dance to

The song of your youth

Barrage of pain

Lit up my eyes to see the light

The way I had thought before

Just wasn’t right

Right way or wrong no one knows

Right when I thought I had it for long

The wound stopped up the prose

Wrong for a while now take a chance and flow

To a change of heart

As we all dance and sing and laugh

I’m told to never look back

But as I turn and spin around

My eyes are caught by the sound

Of the butterfly flapping her wings

And the little children on the streets

My eyes are not on myself any longer

Or the pain I had caused

I am taught by the mighty master and I, the prolonger

Take a moment and pause.

To know that life is not all the pain in the world.

Beauty can be made out of nothing

A pile of mud ensures

Wonder and a flight of fancy
