The Beautiful Muse

The Beautiful Muse

A Poem by Jem
"

Form: Saraband Sonnet Meter: consistent iambic tetrameter or pentameter giving 8 or 10 syllable lines. Schema: axa bcbc dxd efef or axa bccb dxd effe or axa bbcc dxd eeff

"

I hear her speak in lunar light

With eyes that sparkle through the dark;

Her gentle words demand I write.

Each time the pen and paper meet

I feel her presence drawing near

And like a kiss I turn to greet

The love I hold so very dear.

Now paper sheets are waiting for

My fountain pen to leave its mark

And speak of love like ne’er before.

The ink responds to softly tease

With words my heart has longed to say

For her who set my soul to ease

The woman I love more each day.
