Stockholm

A Poem by Sapph

I'm sitting awaiting your return.

You're no lover

No friend

No relation

But I will love you unconditionally.

I won't ever leave you.

The cockroaches know everything.

I'm sure they won't tell,

My hands are hidden from my face.

I crawl around the perimeter

round and round

Until you come home.

I haven't seen daylight in a long time.

My skin has a layer of dirt and

grease on it but

You forbade me to wash

and I must fulfil such wishes.

I admire your authority.

A thousand screams resonate

behind the walls.

I do not absorb their fear,

The slightest sound

heightens my anticipation.

Families hide and

lock their children away.

It means more for me.

Give me all of your attention,

I will never be clean again.

I promise.
