I am from expression and art...

I am from expression and art...

A Poem by Saphire Stridon-Traencendyis
"

This originated as an assignment for an advanced placement humanities class on my first day of High school but I decided, I liked it too much to just leave it at that ergo, you are about to read it (hopefully).

"
I am from the pretty pink tights
And the cotton tree field
From the vinyl records
To the torn up lyric sandals
This is where I’m from

The broken tap shoes
And gulasch
I am from many truths untold
And the old tweed Fender cases
This is where I’m from

The journals
And the guitar picks
The arguments
To the lyrics
This is where I’m from

The dance floor is my playground
And the music is sand in my sandbox
The freedom and expression
And the broken heart
This is not just where I’m from
But, it’s who I am

The poetry and the art
Lost at heart
The artwork is engraved on my soul
But will the canvas and oddly numbered pencils

Ever be a part of who I am?
