Human Fear

Human Fear

A Poem by Saphire Stridon-Traencendyis
"

This short, yet deep poem is about a girl who was raped and shows her only reactions to a potential repeat incident.

"

My face instantly drenched in tears,

I can't breathe,

I can't scream,

I can't think!

As his arm reaches toward me

Across my bed

All I can do is clutch

That stupid f*****g

Stuffed kitty cat

As I curl into a ball

Of a deeper fear

Than he could ever conceive.

Why the cat?

Even though the knife is

So much more

Comforting...
