Every NightA Poem by SantolinazaA poem about the night sky, inspired by the countless amount of times I've stared out the window.Every night, Her dad came in her room, Told her it was time for bed, And closed the blinds, That lead out to her nighttime view, But when her dad left, And she was sure no one was looking, She’d dash to the blinds, pulling them back, And every night, She saw a different view, It was the same trees, same houses that lined outside her window, But this time, the sky was a denim blue, Not yet pitch black, She saw the hills in the distance, And every night she wondered what was beyond them, There were the blinking lights of the cranes, That were building something big, As the red light of a plane flew overhead, There was no commotion during this time, But she felt a restlessness, Every night, She had the urge to walk out, And explore its shades of blue, black, and purple, But, hearing footsteps coming towards her room, She quickly dashed into bed, “Goodnight honey”, “Goodnight dad”,And she fell asleep, wondering what sights she’ll see next time © 2016 SantolinazaReviews
