Religion- that won't divide!

Religion- that won't divide!

A Poem by Sanjeeta Sharma Pokharel "Hridayaninadini"

Why shall we call- this- a religion?
Where a woman is still behind the latched door,
And children are taught to hate!
Don’t ask them to cut their veins,
For their bloods ain’t red, anymore!

A worn out man of skin and bones won’t take their eyes!
For they rush to stand first in a row!
Thousands of coins will flicker in the donation box!
And portentously, they advertise their sold-faith…
Wonder which God, they know!

Still, few do exist, who rely on the tranquility!
They trust, for their God lies within…
Under their battered hut, faith has no limit!
No pomp and show, to prove their love…
In the sweat of their toils, His existence can be seen!

What's wrong, if in his hamlet rings that bell...
And she kneels on that prayer rug...
And they are the choir, for the prayers meet...
What's wrong, if they love this peace...
Children of this human play together and hug!

We pray…

Let the religions carved by the fellow preachers!
Divide no humanity on this earth!
God must be observing the irony, we are in!
Religion of no caste and of no creed…
We deserve!

sadly, religion doesn't bring us together but separates us and does not teach us love but hate for one another. mankind has shaped the truth to fit their own needs and tainted the original message. thank you for this poignant and revealing bit of prose

My Dear Writing Friend,
I really liked this write, it is a thought provoking. I think the Great Mystery desired a realtionship, not religion.

Thank you so much :)
In a book for BA English students, I read an article of what would happen if all national boundaries vanish. It was a good article. These boundaries were created for better development, not to nurture hatred against others. If, today, we think of clearing these boundaries, it will lead to destruction only. For peace there should be developed one new religion.

We do deserve better than what has been created. A peaceful life should not be a dream, but a reality. Splendid read and write.

This definitely struck a chord with me. Great message. Religion can bring a lot of division and hate. People need to learn how to live together peacefully no matter what their beliefs. That can be hard when we have all these fundamentalists running around. No matter what you believe doubt is essential to faith, people need to realize how important it is to never stop questioning things no matter what their beliefs are. They need to remember to be humble and treat each other with respect. Keep up the good work !

Men who speak of separation. Will find a bad place to rest one day. We need belief based on love and kindness. Not greed and control. I like the closing lines. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and the excellent poetry.

Though the topic is old, the inequality still exists, so the desire for equality still sounds sensible. It is like dusting off an old file and reopening the case, which you did sufficiently well.

A minor correction suggested

-The bloods AREN'T red anymore

Do read my poems, when you get time :)
