The pit of death

The pit of death

A Poem by Sanjh
"

Another sad poetry on life and death...

"
I've been waiting,
Inside this dark deadly pit,
For the reaper to take me,
From this life, I want to quit...

No one has been here in ages,
No, not even the light.
It's dark as the burned corpses,
A life long, never ending night...

I shouted many times,
Till my throat got choked.
But no one ever heard my voice,
Just opposite of what I hoped...

I tried to climb up the pit,
Every once in a while.
But I never made it out,
The walls made so vile...

I want to see the sunshine,
Want to feel it's warmth...
All I see here is death,
And it's evil wraith...

Waiting for my judgement day,
I want to feel alive.
I've been here forever,
But there's no hope to survive...

Sadness and pain, it breaks the heart. I feel the persona's very pessimistic though sometimes this really shouldn't be our view but many of the people around always are like this. We can't help it all around us there's the symptoms of the "mean-world-syndrome"

Nicely written poem. I can feel the poet's despair trying to escape from his dark situation! :D

Can be a sequel to Dickinson's 'Because I could not for death'. A tragic but thought provoking piecr. Very nice

Pleasure is totally mine.
It makes us stand in the same shoes as the person who is going through so much, really touching

You are welcome Sanjh. Keep it up.
This is like living a life doing drugs and passing out after drinking up our sorrows...I don't know that is what came to my mind when I read it. (I am kinda weird like that LOL) I like the words that you used in this poem, the tone. nicely done! :D

Full of pessistimistic and lost hope. This another expression of feelings. But all hope is not gone. Well written.

Well said, hope is always present. Thank you for reading...:)
The prayer for death is an oft heard and criticized one. In western culture, people tend to see death as wholly negative without understanding its beauty. A lot of people think I'm morbid but I appreciate and honor death as much as I fear it. I loathe the pain that comes as loss as much as the next person but I know that death is a teacher and with it, learning will come. Some of our best strength comes from facing death.

That being said- I relate to this so much. Many nights I have spent in my room with these very words in my head, scattered across diary pages. Good work.

"If Death is your lover, you don't have to be afraid that he will ever leave you.”

Thank you so much for reading Luna, I'm glad you liked it...:)
This like other poems is nicely penned.
But maybe our thoughts on death are not same. We all see death as an ending even though we have never experienced it. Death is the starting to something new.
And even if its evil out there, we cannot escape death. Buddha said that the cessation of desire meant the cessation of suffering. The moment we stopped wishing something would not end, it would not hurt when it does.
We all should stop fearing death and live life to it's fullest. Thank you :)
