The Knight's unlove story

A poem inspired by a heartbreak in my life

I feel no love this night

for within my soul once lived plight

It started with the story of a girl and a boy

The boy sought love, the girl a toy

they met one day early in the fall

when their eyes met you could wonder...

was ever such a love known at all?

The boy was smitten, the girl was struck

the boy felt joy, he couldn't belive his luck

months came and went

their feelings grew stronger without relent 

the boy pledged to her his heart and soul

she thanked him....and turned away

her cold attitude took it's toll

no longer in the mood to play

she looked at her toy, and tossed it away

her false words of love rang in his ear

his heart grew cold, frozen by fear

she no longer loved him...

yet his heart would not give in

believing this truth, it could not begin

in his minds eye he saw her smile...

a wicked grin

he watched her fade

although all the while...

foolishly his heart held hope

till one day he realized...

"she claims she no longer loves me...."

"but the question is...did she ever at all to begin with?"

she claims words of love

but as these rubies from her lips did fall

he realized, she knew not of love at all

she may claim she does

but true love she does not...

He may have realized in his story he might be the knight

but she as his princess?

yeah....right

so with that he simply turned the page

leaving this story to find one of his own

for  no matter how long he must fight

somewhere out there...

is a princess in need of a knight

Ah, this brings back painful memories. Everyone i'm sure has once played the heart break game in their lives. Anyhow, i love this poem. I also love how it ended. It was quite interesting to read. Very much enjoyed. Nice write. Well done. :)
