Silver Moonbeams

Silver Moonbeams

A Poem by Jenna Erwin

The river runs deep and deeper yet.

Can anyone see the currents beneath?

For it rushes through the veins

coursing and churning below,

A shallow pool that breaks and cracks

when each weapon of words cuts through.

But silver moonbeams cut deeper still.

The sharp rays marking for the world's view.

The river bursts forth with life,

and yet the world sees nothing but marks,

useless points of a shattered heart.
The rays are invisible and thus will remain,

till the river dries completely;

Void of any currents, veins, or pools.

Lifeless, except for the lasting marks

Of a silver moonbeam and a broken heart.
