Upbringing.

Upbringing.

A Poem by E. Greene

Curled under the leering pines,
Their canopies blanket me,
Holding me tight in their shade.
Earthen cushion, crippling comfort.

Deformed, a weakling.
Mother's love, so sinister.
-
The sun's breath, blistering truth,
Peeling the skin I cling to,
Casting copper flecks upon me,
Speckling my arms, staining my feet,
Painting me a holy leper,
Father's Spite, so sublime.
