Separate.

Separate.

A Poem by E. Greene

The candle retracts from my face
And sears my hand as I reach forward
To save the light I basked within.
Forced to stumble into the dim world
Holding every moment in my cask of red
Stored deep within my waning breast.

I limp with your final words dangling
Refusing to sever them from my ears.
I cake my face with your affection
So others can see my beauty.
It cracks my lips
And flakes upon my acid skin.
