Painted

Painted

A Poem by Sangria Green

Painted

Raining on another day

you appear to me

direct all attention into the ear

that hears the words

that hurt so much

a truth I wanted no one to touch

I hate you

I will win this

I will bleed as the sun and rain kiss

the tears on my face

I will conquer you

You were a painted face

with painted tears

I am not you

I can’t compare

I am angry

I am scared

I am not you

I can’t compare

You were a painted face

with painted tears

I am not you

I can’t compare

I am angry

I am scared

I am not you

I can’t compare

Because I feel that I can exhale

Do the angels hate my truths

words that I can not tell myself

I do not fight

you hold me down

You yell and cry

I can’t stand the sound

Slowly choking

you leave me there

Dazed I wake alone

The words I whispered

still in the air

Words that I told you

In a dream

Would I prefer reality

and lost opportunity

Within my dream

I am confused

What should I think of me

You were a painted face

with painted tears

I am not you

I can’t compare

I am angry

I am scared

I am not you

I can’t compare
