YOU AREA Poem by poetforlife
YOU ARE
You are....a drive down a dirt road on a Sunday afternoon with clouds of dust trailing behind us and nothing but the future ahead
You are....a cold glass of water on the hottest of summer days where I can melt icecubes on my chest over the place my heart beats for you
You are....a cave in the wilderness when it seems the wild beasts of the world might devour me, it is here, in you, that I can hide
You are....a big bowl of vanilla ice cream with whipped topping and sprinkles that I can lick off of a spoon and not regret one drop
You are....a smile that finds me through all the tears that my heart has cried since I've known you
You are....my favorite song playing on the radio with the windows rolled down and the wind blowing in my hair
You are....a storm cellar when the tornados of life threaten to tear me apart, a place of refuge that I know will hold through the torrent
You are....peace to me like a brook rippling in the quietness of the woods and nothing I can hear but the water and whispers of the wind
You are....cotton candy at a fair, ferriswheels and fireflies floating in the air
You are....strength in my veins like an addiction that I cannot put down or walk away from, but I don't want to
You are....every dream I've ever had that I never want to wake up from
You are....a treasure of purest gold that no price can be put upon for your worth is more than all the riches untold
You are....all I could ever want, or ask, or need
