Wishing I could catch her eye

If Only

If only I had been there

when she came walking by

I wish I had been there to hold her

when she needed to cry

If only I could be her champion

make her dreams come true

I wish I could kiss away her tears

when she is feeling blue

If only I had the words

to fill her heart with love

I wish I could find them now

send them to her on the wings of a dove

If only she knew while I stand afar

wishing she were mine

I wish she understood my heart

If only for one time
