Before She Found the Sun

Before She Found the Sun

A Poem by Alexandria Reece
"

Oh, I'm sorry -- I didn't realise my optimism was showing.

"

There will be a day I am happier than this,

I will kiss another’s lips, I will whisper to the moon,

On the love reborn in my heart,

And she will tell me of dark days,

Before she found the sun,

To illuminate her face,

For, was she not perfectly made to do so?

And am I not perfectly made to love --

To encourage the best in someone,

And be the best of myself in return?

I will be held and fear no release,

Someone has been dreaming of me,

As I have dreamt of them many a Summer night,

And they will cherish my being,

They will think on my flaws,

And not shy into the shadows,

Condition will have no place between us,

And when I look in their eyes they will know,

That they are rooted deep in my soul,

Which is made of a rich soil,

Substance intended to summon blooms from the ash,

I will lie down in the unfurling ferns,

And know that time is no victor,

Rather will be our love,

Rather will be that splendour,

Of being accepted, of being anticipated,

For exactly who I am,

For being exactly who they are.

About
I have been writing poetry since I was 12 years old and it has been a saving grace and my favourite escape. I am a mystery, wrapped in a shroud, hidden in the shadows of a well. If you can .. more..
