My Favorite WomanA Poem by Sandra K
You carried me
For nine months.
You were so young,
A child, as a matter of fact.
You changed your life,
And decided to keep me.
You are the only one,
Who knew me,
Before anyone else.
After spent twelve
Hours in labor,
A total of three days
In the hospital,
You brought me home,
As a birthday gift to
Yourself.
You gave my your family name,
And we became one.
I have learned that
I don’t stand alone.
I stand for ancestors.
Sacrifice is what you know best,
You gave up senior year,
You gave up prom,
You gave up friends,
And you did not party.
Your ideal late night
Was making sure
I was feed and asleep.
You worked multiple jobs,
To keep a proper portion of food
On our kitchen table,
So my brothers and I could eat.
You did everything you could
To make sure there was a roof
On our head, and clothing on
Our backs.
You and I are the best of friends.
We were always together,
Through the tears and laughter.
The bus rides, and hour spend
In the car.
My brothers and I are happy
And healthy, smart and strong.
Experienced, and safe.
I made it to graduation day
Because of you. The hard work
Paid off on both ends.
You are my mother.
Mine forever and for always!
Thank you Mom,
I love You!
