World of WordsA Poem by Sandra CaskeyI typically create a poem about writing once in a while. This one is personally connected to me and messes with my emotions.
Let me escape in a world of words,
Where I can be dispersed in unbelievable records, Leaping the mountains and hills of sentences. I’ll live the thousand lives, embracing the imagery of senses, Enduring dangerous losses and loving the overwhelming gains " Creation is within my grasp; words swimming in my veins. The messages from beings are upon the tips of my fingers. Their lives and their experiences rage war inside my mind that lingers Onward for years to decades drowning out the noise of unwanted reality. I breathe their air as I walk in their shoes until they reach mortality. I am their God they pray to for forgiveness and hope, Only will I give it to them when lessons are learned and the hanging tree lacks a rope. “The worst will bring the best” is the motto of all my creations " They will battle and they will survive the infernos of my hazardous expectations. Never will they disobey me unless a rebellion has occurred, locking me in a cube, But then shall I seek out reinforcement of a new world of words, Where I can disappear into and never be found below the boards Designed like books to protect me from my own tragedy " I will love my children birthed from words even as they hurt me constantly. Let the trauma be hidden between their worlds and limbo. I’ll wait below every world I have created, every word I have written, for when I am recused by my literate hero. © 2014 Sandra Caskey |
