Rapturous Fiend

Rapturous Fiend

A Poem by Sandra Caskey

Consumption is the deadliest of capture
Fallen in the great depths of a strangling rapture.
Barricaded down in the pits of Hell: struggling, burning, dying
and fighting the resonance demons echoing the inner thoughts
of me: crying, trying, and  lying,
forcibly being revived and then surviving.
Overwhelmed by the mass of fiery spirits, tainted by deadly sins, expressing the torture
       of the so called pleasure
of the singular touch upon my skin
of the hellish desire of that creature.
Welcomed or unwelcome, the fiend embraced its love into me,
causing the innocence to crumble and altering into a painful impurity.
Rise and fall, engulfed and thrown out, was all that I’ve known, a realistic puncture
in the organ I had once planned to give away with it still pure.
Swallow me in that sweltering haze,
Allowing me to fall into captivity of the scorching blaze,
plummeting into the crimson  ocean of razored skin
and eventually in love with the monster so-called "
