Facing Down Your Demons

Facing Down Your Demons

A Poem by Sandra Caskey

I stand before him,
My head titled back to see his face,
His black eyes glowering down at me.
As I gaze up at him, I stroke the red string around my pinky
That drops down, crosses the ground, and reattaches at his.
We’re fated to be together "
“Come down, mister,” I tell him.
He kneels down, where our faces are matched.
I stand on the tips of my toes and kiss his forehead
And then lay mine upon his.
A smile breaks free from my lips.
Although his face holds an eternal frown,
I can see the happiness he feels, too.

OOh I like this a lot. Very intriguing. I like the way you portrayed this. Very well written, you're telling a story through poetry, very nice metaphor. Thanks for sharing. :)
