Freedom was a new concept when I met you

With these chains lifted off my ankles
I started to fly with my barely used wings
Feeling them stretch and flutter in the summer breeze
My first flights were pure ecstasy

And there you were
Sitting on a cloud staring down at the ground focused on nothing in particular
Your hair was a black curly mess and your eyes were just as dark but gentle
Your height could only be match by trees themselves

You looked up
The glare from eyes were gone for now you had a new focus
Flying by with such speed and grace
You just couldn’t help but smile and cheer me on
On that cloud you had been relaxing till something astonishing occurred

We both started falling out of the sky
Fear in our hearts of what was going to happen next
Circling around and around each other as we grew nearer

Till finally
After what felt like forever
We collided
