Ever the condescender

Ever the condescender

A Poem by Samuel Jack
"

About my boss

"
Ever the condescender

No patience for another's wisdom
To him you just became a contender

Speak a new thing and his posture grows rigid
Shooting down ideas like a flock of grey pigeons

If you lower another only to raise yourself above them,
It's far worse than mere self appreciation
Less massage more ego masterbation

Pleasuring yourself daily
Can quickly grow addictive
We all have coping mechanisms
But he's socially afflicted

Living for small satisfactions will never breed happiness
It's shows in his actions a lack of human finesse

Perhaps one day you will turn and see your own reflection
As another speaks new things
That ugly smile will catch you unexpected

Samuel Jack
This could do with some refinement, it has power though, my brother read it on Facebook and went crazy, thinking it was about Him.

Wisdom comes through trial and error whereby we learn from our mistakes. Some people stick to their errors because their egos won't allow them to admit that they are wrong. An acknowledgement of one's fallibility is the beginning of wisdom. Arrogant condescendence is the path to destruction. You seem to hint at this truth within your poem. Here's an inspired gift poem that you may keep as your own:

Wisdom Sings

Wisdom hardly ever clings
to annoying moody things.
Hold the arrows, hold the slings
anywhere where Wisdom sings.

This is the best way to show you how your poems inspire me. A poem is as good as it inspires.

This piece definitely has power - love that last line. Some people we encounter really do not seem to know how to interact with others, and often these are indeed the ones who have authority over us. As you edit, I suggest that you keep the honesty intact; the rhyme was good, just work a bit with the meter. Overall, a good write!

The meter, always with the meter :) I'm getting there. Thanks for the review Rita

It resonates my dad's own detriments. Instead of human finesse maybe social or character finesse to match the meter count in the line above.
