THE DEPARTURE

THE DEPARTURE

A Poem by penloverfool

When I entered the room that was full of strangers
It was you that first caught my eyes
All people were laughing like usual frolickers
But why my heart melted like ice?

I furtively looked at your celestial beauty
And memorized your countenance
I started to whisper your sweet name silently
Then my spirit desired to dance

The universe stood still and you were the focus
Of my poor heart in that daydream
I noticed nirvana and the angels’ chorus
Over the clouds of snow and cream

We trudged the busy street on our way to the train
And exchanged trivial talks and laughs
Yet, you were not aware of my horrible pain
That was brandishing a relapse

All the things were limpid that borrowed happiness
Would result to my life’s nadir
And in your departure my sorrows were boundless
You left me in complete despair

Some people have power over others without realizing it; love or infatuation can often be a one way street. You've captured this nicely.
