Shadow Play

Shadow Play

A Poem by Sammi

Breathing fast, breath on the back of my neck

The sound of two beating hearts

Blood rushing as fingers interlock

Skin blushing from skin contact.

Taking a deep breathe as

We lay side by side

Looking up into complete darkness

Scattered white stars burning

Brightly lighting the way home.

Waiting, watching and listening

As the town below transforms

Coming to life, revealing secrets

We would rather stay buried.

The air is cooler

Grass and leaves moist

As I take in the smell of the earth

Surrounded by thousands of unseen eye's

The sound of night creatures out to play

And shadows enshrouded by darkness.

Looking over the cliff side to a town

Lite up by fast moving lights

Taking in the peaceful serenity

Before being deafened by

The break of dawn.
