Chapter 3

"Eddie, you should have seen her, she was amazing!" Squealed Cass. She was retelling what happened yesterday with the little girl. With her arms flying everywhere she could take someone's eye out if she is not careful. Another thing I love about Cass is that she is always so enthusiastic when telling a story. The only downside is that once you have told Cass anything I can guarantee that by the end of the day the whole school knows.

"Sorry I missed it " grumbled Eddie. Which is quite unusual for Eddie to not be joining in with all the hype. As I take a look at him I notice that he seems to be the thinking about something quite intensly as he has frown lines on between his eyes. Just as I finish this thought Eddie looks up at me.

"It's your turn Ash" Eddie says jolting me back to what I should be focusing on.

"So who wants to partner with me?" I ask trying to ignore the pointing and whispering of my classmates and their stares.

"I will Ed can swap with you next" Cass replies putting a pair of pads on her hands.

I go over to the box in the middle of the gym and pick up a pair of gloves and start to put them on and turn to take another look at Eddie. He is helping another pair sparring in Cambat Class giving them pointers. He looks like his normal, relaxed self now. He was probably just annoyed at not having witnessed what happened first hand. With the gloves now on I walk back over to Cass and begin throwing some punch combinations, but my mind is wandering back to yesterdays events. Something is still bothering me about how I was not hit by that car. I know for a fact that it was not me as I did not have enough time to make it all the way across to the other side of the road. Whatever saved me was definitely paranormal and there was something strange about it, I  just cannot put my finger on it. I feel a sting to the left side of my face.

"Hey Ash! Focus keep your guard up" comes Cass's voice dragging me from thoughts.

I take a breathe to try to clear my mind and start to punch again. The rest of class was more of Cass tapping me in the many openings in the defense. This was the result of me not being able to shake off what happened yesterday. Normally I do not obsess over things so I am not quite sure what is bothering me so much.I pull the gloves off my hands now covered in sweat and take the pads from Cass and walk to the centre of the gym to put them back in the box. As I turn round Cass loops her arm through mine and walks in sync with me as we start to leave the gym and head for the showers.

"You were off your game today" comes Eddie's voice. I turn my head to the right and see that Eddie is coming towards me and Cass.

"It was just an off day" I say in an effort to act normal.

"I know we are amazing but me and Ash cannot be great all the time sometimes we have to be a little of to give you chance" quips Cass a smirk on her face.

"You and the word great in the same sentence are we talking about the same person?" comes Eddie's response.

"Hey!" Cass exclaims and unlinks her arm from mine to take a smack at Eddie, who starts dancing backwards to try and dodge Cass.

I watch Cass and Eddie and this is how things should be yet I still have a sick feeling in my stomach. I will get some answers just not right now. For now I just want to enjoy the normalcy of school and being round my friends.
