The First Anniversary

The First Anniversary

A Poem by Samith Pich

Without you -

Where would I go in the city in which I loved you?

Summer, winter and spring would have no hope.

Who would I turn to under the bridges of our embrace?

When the music of your fingers leaves no trace.

The fabric of our lives lie like a glistening rope

weaving itself into the distance, and you are

it’s most radiant beautiful parts.

Entwined with mine are your slender fingers

walking with me the fine line of faith and hearts.

On this day, a year ago, a song was sung

but we were too drunk with joy to hear it.

It began it’s quiet tune as you walked down the aisle

it’s melody grew with each tear you shed,

as if each step brought you closer to it.

Heaven brought out the sun and its rays were

like a choir of voices. As we said I do and kissed

the song grew so loud that I had to close my eyes

and all I could see was you. All I could see was you.

On this first anniversary I am reminded

of that song, and how it sang as our love has grown.

It’s a song that only the soul can know

when it meets another that finally completes it.

It’s a song that only two lives can hear

when their lives are meant to live it.

It sings its quiet melody with all that a song wishes.

It’s in my heart, it’s in my voice, it’s in our little kisses.

And I know that on this anniversary this song will sing

a song that could only be a heaven’s hymn.

A song that comes when two hearts are joined

by love, by faith, and by two little rings.

Thanks Yellow Butterfly for your kinds words and for stopping by!
To be married to someone you love for a year and still be as much in love as when you first got together; to remember all the good times, is a blessing. I wish you luck in the future.
