I fall to my kneesA Poem by Samith Pichas the day drew to a close an usher switches his caps starts cleaning the aisles in an empty theatre before the wailing of sirens crashing against the city walls the barbarians howling trembling jars clink like bells the fireflies inside them only ash I fall to my knees in the middle of making dinner avocado skins curl black like charcoal around unfinished drawings chairs arrange themselves like Stonehenge before you come home and slide into the driveway like a wavering parcel of light heavy with an ocean, struggling with the door the grocery bag catches on the latch, tears, slips and breaches revealing day old apples shined to perfection. © 2011 Samith PichFeatured Review
