DefencelessA Poem by Samith PichIt's been a very long while. A new poem, an old feelingwoke up. I toss & turn. the dream dissapates but the memory burns. it's a new poem for an old feeling that has me staring at the ceiling. haunted by a ghost that returns to me ripe & out of season. a day before we ate the morning licking salt off our fingers chuckling over daylight (an inside joke) of the found and the known lunch breezes past afternoon lingers on your toes i toss that image around in my mind for meaning the black panties, the diamong on your nose i should go this won't end well time won't tell and i am left with unanswered questions to conversations never made i'm defenceless with you defenceless like a babe a toy with no string a wound that won't sing but yearns for the crime. I want everything to pause I want time to stay this way like the vine of your fingers conducting muisc with the air the game is laid bare against the curves of her skin I trace, make haste, as her word search for home inside me. let's meet at your door let's pretend that it can happen lets linger until midnight in the broken garden of your room and drink to what can't be until the light fades & nothing is seen only known.
