You and I.

You and I.

A Poem by Samilyyy.

Oh, how I admire the kid in you
The smirk of mischief that spreads across your face
raising your cheekbones to create such an adolescent disguise
The way you speak words of wisdom and optimism
How you row into the darkest of waters with eyes wide open
not with the expression of fear, never fear
But instead with wonderment and curiosity
for what the future entails,
much curiosity

See we're a different breed, you and I
So many of us as we come to terms with this concept of growth
and this thought of separation into the new phases of our lives,
though our intentions are to grow and mature, we rot
We completely abandon who we were, we shed our skin
and become this hollow being, well, half empty;
nothing will ever be good enough
When we were young, we resided in the moment
indulged in the little things
and everything laid as it should, as it be

Oh how I admire the kid in you
for the kid in me has been lonely for quite sometime now
