Unrequited loveA Poem by UnsungmanThe poem is reflection of anguish of poet. It tries to depict his state. To go against the wind, to get ploughed by the plough of your own reins, to take unchartered waters beyond the familiar rivulets, to let your spool empty down another ring of thread to the highest wind, to know yet try to fight truth and it's tedium. to fight bereft of advantage, without letting the conclusion defy the aims, thus we have heard is unrequited love. Thus we have held that which cannot be held, we have followed the soon ending footsteps, we have dived the shallow streams, we have heard the distant voices that die down when you reach there, thus we have heard is unrequited love. We have slowly defeated ourselves in the battle of restraint, we have looked into the stone eye of forbidden reservoir, looked into the liberating flesh unbecoming to the infidels, havenot we wanted that nails to be the steeple of cathedrals that unbearably fell on us to lift us from the monotony of lovelesnness, to bring us to the realm where loving and not being loved would be the sure conclusions, and this prisoner wouldnot leave without knowing the tempestuous grandeur of love, and thus we have known is unrequited love.
Thus without lies, without complains, without the rain for the harvest, we have tended this love, without the hope for martyrdom and monuments, thus we have dug our own trench, to have lived without sunshine and have seen beyond the overcast day, to have found the mountains amid the formless gibberish of the sages, thus we have known is unrequited love.
Haven't we build the home, with the gardens, with flowers and birds singing, and waited without knowing how long to wait for, have not we halved the homes, with it's quilts, and mattress, with the unsolicited portraits, waited for the footsteps, creak of the door, echoes of the voices, call of your names, and never once delayed, never once defied the rituals, thus we have known is unrequited love. © 2016 Unsungman |
