Stupid Wolf

“Why did you buy her food? What?! My food isn’t good enough?! I’ll force it down her throat if I have to!” my mother exploded.

“She had a rough day. She deserved it.” I growled.

“You spoil her too much. Once your father hears " ” she began.

“Peter is not my father!” I screamed as I slammed my fist on the kitchen table.

“Get . . . out . . . of . . . my . . .kitchen!” she screeched, just as the front door opened.

Peter walked into the kitchen and stared at us.

“What’s going on here?” he asked calmly.

“Your son was just leaving!” my mother threw a dish into the sink.

“Step " son!” I growled as I walked out the kitchen.

I walked into the living room and saw Nathan playing on his XBOX. He looked over at me and smirked.

“Where’s Lexi?” I snapped.

“Do I care?” he retorted.

I snarled at him and ran up the stairs to Lexi’s room. Her door was partly open. That seemed odd considering it was always locked. I pushed it open and glanced around her room. It was a mess. She usually kept her room clean,  so the mess was very odd. I growled angrily and walked over to my room.

“Lexi!” I yelled.

“I’m here . . .” she whispered from the corner of my room.

“Lexi, what happened . . .” I walked over to her and picked her up.

She was shaking like a leaf. I held her close and comforted her, well knowing she would not tell me what was wrong. I stroked her hair gently as she began to cry. My own body was shaking from anger.

“Tyler . . .” she choked out through tears.

“Yes?” I looked down at her in my arms, trying to contain my anger.

“Can I . . . sleep in your room . . . tonight?” she looked up innocently.

“Of course. Whatever you want.” I kissed her head gently.

I lowered her to the ground with her arms tightly wrapped around my neck. She smiled slightly and pulled away. I glanced after her as she quickly ran over to her room. I ran my fingers through my hair and glanced around my room.

“So, she’s hiding in here tonight?”

I spun around and glared at Peter.

“Why do you care where she is?” I glared at him.

“More reasons than you know” he smirked. “Have a good night Tyler. Protect her as long as you can.”

He disappeared from my doorway after his cryptic message. Lexi stared after him, shaking more violently than ever before. That is when I realized, Peter had done something to her. I just wish I knew what he did.

“What did he do to you?” I stared at her concerned.

“Nothing . . .” she whispered as she walked over to my bed. “I’ll sleep on the floor if you want.”

“Get in the bed.” I mumbled as I pulled a pillow and blanket towards the floor.

I stayed away until midnight that night. I could not sleep and I knew why. There was a full moon out tonight. For as long as I could remember, I had stayed away from the change. The only time I changed was when I wanted to, or if I looked directly at the moon.

My brother always changed. He loved it. I had warned him not to change when we moved here. We did not know who the pack leaders were in this area. If we changed and went roaming, we will be in unwanted territory and we will be killed on sight. Nathan had not promised me that he would not change. All I could do was hope that he was smart enough to understand the severity of the situation. Then again . . . this was Nathan after all.

Lexi was fourteen. Most girls changed at the age of fifteen. She had a few weeks more before she became fifteen. I did not know what Lexi would do when she found out about her true self.

My father had guided both Nathan and myself when we were first turned. Our mother never changed. She preferred to believe that was she was normal. My father was proud of what he was and changed at every full moon. Up until his death, I had always changed and hunted with him. But after the accident, I didn’t see the point anymore.

A wolf’s howl brought me back to reality. I stood up and stared out my window to the surrounding woods. A beautiful pure white wolf stood below, howling towards the woods.

“Nathan!” I growled.

I left my room and stealthy walked downstairs. I went through the back door and stood on the back porch, glared at the wolf.

“Nathan! Change back!” I spat at him.

The wolf turned his head to me, snarled and bounded into the woods. Part of me wanted to leave him. Let him fight his own battles. The other part of me wanted to go after him. He was my brother and I had to protect him.

I stripped out of my clothes and quickly changed into my true form. My wolf is a pure black, tall wolf. It used to be white, like my brother’s, but now that I was the leader of my family’s pack, my coat was pure black.

I howled at the moon, letting my wolf instincts wash over me before I ran to the forest. I sniffed the air, caught Nathan’s scent and ran after him. I stopped as I heard a wolf’s howl of pain. I ran in that direction, hoping it was not Nathan. I stopped once I came to the clearing. I could not move.

Nathan was lying on the floor, bloody and unconscious in his human form. Surrounding his body was a pack of wolves. At least ten of them. I let out a loud growl and they all turned to me. I expected them to attack, but they bowed their heads and retreated. All but one. The one that remained turned his head and bowed low. A huge black wolf sauntered up to us.

He stared at me for a long moment before nodding his head and turned back to his human form. He was at least six feet six inches. His hair was white blond and shoulder length. His eyes were bright blue and glowing. He was lean and muscular. He looked around with an authoritative air.

The wolf next to him changed. He was only five feet seven inches. His hair was pure blonde, but his eyes were exactly like the leaders eyes. He was lean as well, but not as muscular.

“Please change.” The leader said in a soothing voice.

I changed quickly and faced them.

“What is your name?” the leader asked.

“I am Tyler Taylor. The body on the floor that your pack nearly killed is my brother, Nathan.” I replied.

“Your brother was roaming on our territory, unknowingly to us. You are the pack leader, you should know the rules.” The leader sighed.

“I apologize on my brother’s behalf. We have recently moved here and were unable to meet any packs before tonight.” I explained.

“Taylor, you said?” he narrowed his eyes at me.

I nodded my head slowly.

“Are you the son of Caleb Taylor?” he stood up fully now.

“Yes, that was my father.”

The leader’s face changed to one of shock as he lowered his head. The other boy next to him followed his example. I stared at them confused.

“Your father was an amazing man. He died too young. We are sorry for your loss. He was our leader.” He said gently.

“I’m sorry, but how was he your leader?” I stared.

His face broke into a slight smile.

“Your father was the alpha.” He stated flatly. “Come to my house tomorrow afternoon and we’ll talk.”

He let out a shrill whistle as two other pack member appeared.

“Take the unconscious wolf to his dwelling.” He ordered.

I watched as they gently lifted my brother’s body and ran in the direction of our house. The leader bowed once more before disappearing with, who I assumed, was his son.

It took me a full minute to assess what the leader had revealed to me. I did not even know the stranger’s name. I glanced around and sighed to myself. This was the worst part of being a wolf. Once you returned from the change, you are always naked. I quickly ran back to the house and grabbed my clothes from the porch. I pulled it on as I walked up the stairs to my brother’s room. He was sprawled across his bed and his wounds were slowly healing. I decided to let him rest the night and lecture him in the morning.

I walked over to m room and shut the door. I stood at the foot of my bed, staring at my sister. I did not know how I was going to protect her if I moved away. I stared at her intently as she shifted.

“No . . .” she mumbled.

I could not believe it. My sister was talking in her sleep. I moved to stand next to her and listened.

“Please . . . don’t . . .” she cried out.

I wanted to wake her, but curiosity got the better of me.

“Peter! Stop . . . stop touching me . . . don’t  . . . don’t touch me there!” she began covering her privates.

My entire body had erupted in anger. Now I know why she was so afraid of him. I wanted to walk across to his room and confront him. But I knew better. He would just deny it and my empty " headed mother would believe him over me. All I could do was protect her now.

I sat on the floor, leaned against the wall and listened to her sleep. Her talking continued throughout the night. The alarm went off at exactly six, waking her with a jump. She rubbed her eyes as she glanced over at me.

“Morning, Tyler.” She smiled at me, looking so innocent.

“After school today, you’re moving your stuff into my room. I want you in here with me.” I stated.

A wave of relief washed over her face. She looked down and nodded her head. I knew she was smiling. I stood up and walked into the bathroom for a shower. I quickly dried off and pulled on some clean clothes, similar to what I wore the day before. I was tying my shoes when Nathan walked in.

“How much trouble?” he asked, rubbing his neck that was still sore.

“We’ll know after school. I’m meeting the leader to talk.” I murmured as I stood up.

“I’ll go with you.” He said.

“Why the hell didn’t you listen to me?” I snapped. “I warned you about the consequences and you blatantly ignored me! You ignored my orders and put our family at risk! What if they had killed you and decided to kill the rest of us? Your mother and sister would have been dead by now! Don’t you think of anyone else but yourself? F**k! Nathan!”

“I’m sorry, Tyler.” Nathan leaned against the wall. “I just . . . really wanted to change.”

“You disobeyed me!” I growled.

“What’s my punishment?” he cowered.

“After the meeting, I’ll decide.”

I walked out the room with my backpack in hand. Lexi was already in the kitchen, waiting for me. She gave me a pop tart and we left.

I really enjoyed this. The story is progressing well.
I think you kind of revealed Tyler was a werewolf too quickly. I was reading and all of a sudden I found out he could change into a wolf. I think if you slowed the revealing proces down, the big reveal would be much better and the story would improve.
Still though,
a great chapter. Oddly enough you're writing about Werewolves, and I'm writing about hunting werewolves. lol
