Please . . . Understand

I go to college for 8 months at a time. From September through till April. Then I spend my summers working and swimming. But I get at the most, 3 weeks off. It was supposed to be happy, but it's not.

For 8 months straight,

I work my a*s off.

Missing breakfast,

Classes at 9 am,

And lasting sometimes for 3 hours.

Work in-between classes,

Skipping lunch.

Swim practice,

Varies in time.

5 am, noon, 6 pm.

I commute to school, so . . .

My days in public end at 10 pm,

When I walk through my door.

Finally . . . food.

Yet, there’s work to be done.

Papers . . .

Projects . . .

Power Points . . .

Chapter Readings . . .

No sleep . . . till 3 am.

Grades are always A’s or B’s.

Yet, this is my routine,

For 8 months straight.

As I place my pen down,

And close the blue book,

My final exam done,

Summer has begun!

Yet . . . there’s work to be done.

Yes . . . I still have my job,

Just a lot more hours.

Yes . . . I still have my swim practices,

Just longer training sessions.

But! There’s a silver lining!

I can go home . . . for 3 weeks!

3 weeks of pure bliss.

No work.

No papers.

No projects.

No swimming training.

No improper eating.

Just 3, relaxing weeks,

By the beach,

By my house.

But then, you get mad!

You think I’m being lazy!

You think I’m wasting my day!

You think I’m eating too much!

You think I’m frying my brain with TV!

If that’s the case,

Then I tell you!

Why don’t you live in my shoes for those 8 months!

See what the f**k I go through!

See how much I need this break!

See why I’m wasting my day!

See why I’m eating so much!

After the 3 weeks,

I will be eating a scrap more than a hobo!

Why can’t you see?

Why!?

Please, for goodness sake!

Just open your eyes!

And SEE!

Stop making me feel bad!

Stop making me feel guilty!

Stop making me feel worthless!

Just stop!

Just look!

Just . . . understand . . .

Myself i like ryhe in poetry otherwise i dont see the point, you might aswell write an essay. however you probably shouldn't mind me. i'm irish im brought up to be cynical...
