Apathetic

Bleeding hearts drop unceremoniously to the floor

Veins pumped full of deleterious venom

We cannot stand to take it anymore

But our eyes are locked upon grotesque beauty

 

 

Examples of bones and skin are on display

Small gasps of wistful breath, bodies declining

Stilts strapped to their attenuated limbs

Grasping in the dark, they can't seem to find me

 

I sit in a lonesome corner watching and waiting

Unable to sustain the burdens of our generation

But they are there as well, taunting and baiting

Their insidious promises dripping with poison

 

Victims of their assualts are of an abundant measure

To end the pain is a hopeless endeavour
