Apathetic

Apathetic

A Poem by SamanthaMarie

Bleeding hearts drop unceremoniously to the floor

Veins pumped full of deleterious venom

We cannot stand to take it anymore

But our eyes are locked upon grotesque beauty

Examples of bones and skin are on display

Small gasps of wistful breath, bodies declining

Stilts strapped to their attenuated limbs

Grasping in the dark, they can't seem to find me

I sit in a lonesome corner watching and waiting

Unable to sustain the burdens of our generation

But they are there as well, taunting and baiting

Their insidious promises dripping with poison

Victims of their assualts are of an abundant measure

To end the pain is a hopeless endeavour

Damn straight.
I liked it a lot. Very original. First line second stanza, I thought sounded better as "examples of bone and skin on display", but that's just me. I think maybe including one mopre line that pulls it all together would bring the poem out of riddle status. I think it is about giving up, all the horrors of human frailty around you and the inability to stop or effect it in the manner you want leads to apathy??????

I love the line, "But our eyes are locked upon their grotesque beauty"
It shows how there is a part in all of us that love to see gore and dirt. Not many people will admit it. Wonderful poem as always :)

Thanks, Mucha!
This is pain suspended in time...
You have written an intense piece in such a depleting way, it bleeds out the poison. The free form of your writing is well expressed. Amazing work!

I'm so glad :D
Our generations view of aesthetics is very grotesque, its all about that "fake plastic love". Great write. Keep doing what your doing!
