Acceptance

Acceptance

A Poem by SamanthaSweeney
"

We all want to be accepted.

"
Acceptance is a funny word.
One is never told one is
accepted;
we either know we are
or strive to be.

Striving... reaching into dense undergrowth
trying to find any salvageable roots
we fall deeper
drowning in the debris of dead matter
as the underworld comes into

View. Darkness, but clarity.
Knowledge that scares me.
Knowing that acceptance will be harder to gain
when my mind poses so much opposition.

this parallels a dean koontz novel i am reading called "Innocence"---

being feared and loathed is quite scary...and the hardest place to get acceptance is from ourselves.
