I Don't See You... It is All I NeedA Poem by SamanthaSweeneyWhen all you need is all you're never going to have, or lost.I Don't See You...It is All I Need Where are you now? I see your face in strangers’ Eyes, I glimpse it by mistake... Then my heart falters. And the tears do not Wash away the pain, They do not sting As they slash my cheeks, Or pierce As they drop Onto my collarbones. It’s just in my head. This ache. I do not recognise myself As I build walls. Whilst digging to kill this pain Within me. Outside me His lips brush my skin. My senses sing the same Harmony for a moment. Basking in his electricity As he lathers me In lust, Love? Sheathed within his body He does not know I am the most dangerous knife. Because I just don’t see you at all. Though it is all I need. So I chase you through my dreams And trip before I see you; I never find you. You thread away into the havoc of my mind. Your eyes see not me. They see nothing no more. Why must it always be about what is real, And what is not? It is In the tug of a mother's hand, Then the L i m p Emptiness of mine. As they struggle to control The monsters we create. I can’t go wild and expect your discipline. But it is strange seeing someone step Into the shoes of the mother You’re lamenting And missing; Feeling the whip! Of their authority But not the tenderness within their wings. The backlash of the crash, The hammering of my heart As it swells with no release. A cold embrace is No embrace at all. Whilst standing by Is the only warrior You’ve ever had to defend you’re young heart. And looking into those russet eyes " all you’ve ever known - And feeling such confusion, Is when you know you’re lost. Those brown depths of your maker, Who has forgotten how to care. © 2013 SamanthaSweeney |
